AEG vs Hotpoint Cooker Hoods

AEG spans the DGB3850M 70cm at £269, the DGE5861HM 77cm at £419, the DKB5960HM 90cm at £449 and the DBE5961HG 90cm at £499. Hotpoint covers the PHGC94FLMX curved glass chimney at £219, the PHC77FLBIX 700mm chimney at £259, the PHVP62FLMK vertical glass hood at £299 and the PHBS68FLTIX1 70cm chimney at £319. AEG's touch-controlled DKB5960HM sits between Hotpoint's chimney options and the larger 90cm DBE5961HG.

Hotpoint's boost and silent modes are its standout functions. The PHGC94FLMX has a booster option with two powerful LEDs and four variable speeds, while the PHC77FLBIX and PHBS68FLTIX1 add silence controls. The PHBS68FLTIX1 carries a 62dB noise rating. AEG relies on ExtractionTech, washable grease filters and SilenceTech on the DBE5961HG, and the DKB5960HM is A-rated at 55dB, which is a useful benchmark for the AEG range.

Hotpoint suits buyers on a tighter budget who want a chimney hood with glass finishes and boost settings for a family kitchen. AEG suits a buyer who wants a 90cm hood with touch controls and washable filters, and who can pay around £449 to £499 for the extra specification. The 77cm and 70cm AEG options also work in smaller kitchens where a wide hood would look out of proportion with the hob. Both brands sell 70cm models, so a kitchen of that width can compare them directly on price and boost settings. Hotpoint's chimney styles give a clean look above a hob, while AEG's stainless models suit most kitchen colour schemes.

Bottom line: choose Hotpoint if you want a chimney hood with boost and silent modes from £219, which is the better value. Choose AEG if you want a 90cm touch-controlled hood from £449, or a 70cm model at £269 for a smaller kitchen.
