Hamilton Beach vs Rangemaster Kettles

Hamilton Beach and Rangemaster both give you a full-size 1.7-litre kettle, but at different price points. Hamilton Beach's HB1107 jug kettles are £17 each in black or white, while Rangemaster's Classic kettles are £89 in Black or Mineral Green. The Rangemaster costs £72 more than the Hamilton Beach. The difference is about finish and noise rather than capacity, since both hold 1.7 litres.

Hamilton Beach's HB1107 has a 2200W element, water level indicator and auto shut-off, with a plastic body and no temperature control. Rangemaster's Classic kettle has a Quiet Boil feature designed to reduce noise, plus Easy Refill and Perfect Pour features. Its design is built to match Rangemaster range cookers, with finishes in black and mineral green. Rangemaster has the quieter boil and the more considered design, while Hamilton Beach keeps to the plainest possible jug.

Hamilton Beach suits first homes, students and rental properties that need a simple, cheap kettle. Rangemaster suits owners of Rangemaster range cookers and anyone with a classic kitchen who wants a quieter kettle that complements the cooker. Someone boiling water in a shared flat or a small open-plan room may appreciate the Quiet Boil. A household that just wants a kettle to get on with the job will notice little difference between the two apart from the price. Rangemaster's range-cooker matching is a niche advantage, so unless you own one, the cheaper Hamilton Beach is the sensible default. The cordless jug is also a practical benefit for anyone who pours at the worktop.

Bottom line: choose Hamilton Beach if you need a 1.7-litre kettle for £17 and do not care about noise or colour, choose Rangemaster if you want Quiet Boil and a finish that matches a Rangemaster range cooker for £89.
