Bosch Series 6 10.5kg Wash 6kg Dry 1400rpm Washer Dryer vs Series 6 10.5kg Wash 6kg Dry 1400rpm Washer Dryer — Comparison

The Bosch WNG25401GB and the Bosch WNG254R1GB are the same 10.5kg wash, 6kg dry, 1400rpm washer dryer at £849, with eight programmes, a standard wash and dry time of 8:40, and identical energy and water figures. The first is listed in white and the second in a cast iron grey finish, so this is a choice of finish rather than of performance.

In daily use the benefit is space: one machine for washing and drying, with a large drum that handles bulky bedding. The energy rating is D, with a washing efficiency grade of A and a spin grade of B. A full wash and dry cycle uses 306kWh and 82 litres of water, so drying costs more than washing alone. Both have an auto half-load option and a pre-wash, and reviewers say the machine is quiet, even on high spin cycles.

Reviews of the white model are mostly positive about quiet operation, the large drum and the drying results. The complaints are serious for a few buyers: one reports the drum stopped turning and needed parts, leaving them without a machine for about three weeks, and another says the main circuit board has been replaced twice. A front door cover breaking during installation is also reported. Buyers of the grey model praise the silence and the drying, though one says the drying cycles are a little long.

Bottom line: choose the Bosch WNG25401GB if you prefer the white finish, choose the Bosch WNG254R1GB if the grey finish suits your laundry room better; the specification and price are the same, so finish is the deciding factor.
