Bosch Series 8 WIW28502GB Fully-Integrated 8kg 1400rpm Washing Machine vs Series 8 10kg Washing Machine 1400rpm Spin - White — Comparison

The Bosch Series 8 WIW28502GB is a fully integrated 8kg washing machine at £799, and the Bosch WGB256A1GB is a freestanding Series 8 at £899, with 1400rpm spin on both. The integrated model is built to sit behind a cabinet door, at 818mm high and 596mm wide. The freestanding model is 845mm high and 598mm wide and weighs 52kg.

The energy figures separate them most clearly. The integrated WIW28502GB is rated C, using 62kWh a year and 45 litres of water, while the WGB256A1GB is rated A at 41kWh and 49 litres. Both have 15 programmes, a half-load option and a delicate wash. The integrated machine has a built-in 15-minute quick wash, while the freestanding model has a 30-minute quick wash, and both carry a two-year guarantee.

The WGB256A1GB's standout feature is iDos automatic dosing, which measures liquid detergent and softener for each load and adjusts for the water hardness. Buyers often say it is the feature they would miss most. Owners of the integrated model often praise the projected time-remaining light on the floor, and many describe it as quiet and reliable. One buyer reported a machine that stopped working within a few months, so it is worth registering the guarantee as soon as you install it.

Bottom line: choose the Bosch WIW28502GB if you need a built-in machine with a 15-minute quick wash and a lower purchase price, and choose the Bosch WGB256A1GB if you want lower running costs, automatic dosing and a freestanding fit for £100 more.
