Bosch Series 4 1400rpm 9kg Washing Machine - White vs 10kg 1400rpm Washing Machine - White — Comparison

The Bosch WAN28259GB is a 9kg, 1400rpm Series 4 washing machine at £479, and the Bosch WGG254Z1GB is a 10kg, 1400rpm machine at £649. Both are white, 598mm wide and 845mm high. The WGG254Z1GB is slightly shallower at 588mm against 590mm and has the greater capacity. The WAN28259GB has a five-year guarantee against two years for the WGG254Z1GB.

The WAN28259GB is the quieter machine, at 72dB with an A noise rating against 74dB and grade B. It offers a super quick 15 or 30 minute wash, a half-load option, a hand wash setting and five programmes. The WGG254Z1GB has 14 programmes, an anti-flood device and a 30-minute quick wash, but no hand wash or half-load option. Both have Speed Perfect and Iron Assist.

Buyers of the WAN28259GB praise how quiet it is, its simple controls, digital display, easy programme selection and quick wash results, and one buyer misses the end-of-wash tune of a previous brand. Buyers of the WGG254Z1GB also praise quiet running and a spacious drum, though some find the cotton cycle long, the quick wash too short, and that a single heavy item such as a dressing gown does not spin dry.

Bottom line: choose the Bosch WAN28259GB if you want a cheaper, quieter 9kg machine with a five-year guarantee; choose the Bosch WGG254Z1GB if you need 10kg capacity, an anti-flood device and more programmes and can accept a slightly louder machine.
