Shark vs VAX CDCW-SWXS — Comparison

The Shark CarpetXpert EX150UK at £199 and the VAX Platinum SmartWash CDCW-SWXS at £189 are both upright carpet cleaners, designed to deep-clean carpets and rugs by spraying a cleaning solution, scrubbing and extracting dirty water. With only £10 between them, the choice comes down to design and features.

Carpet cleaners go beyond what a vacuum can do, lifting ground-in dirt, stains and odours from carpet fibres, which is especially useful for homes with pets, children or high-traffic areas. The Shark EX150UK CarpetXpert in navy blue typically features Shark's StainStriker technology for targeted stain treatment and a design aimed at quick-drying results. The VAX CDCW-SWXS Platinum SmartWash in black and blue uses VAX's SmartWash system, which automatically dispenses cleaning solution as you push forward and extracts as you pull back, and VAX is the UK's best-known carpet cleaner brand.

Both are strong choices for regular deep cleaning at home. The VAX's automatic SmartWash dosing makes it easy to use and is £10 cheaper, while the Shark suits buyers who want focused stain treatment and prefer Shark's design. Consider tank sizes, weight and drying time, and check the cost and availability of cleaning solutions for each, as these are an ongoing expense.

Bottom line: choose the VAX Platinum SmartWash CDCW-SWXS at £189 if you want easy, automatic deep cleaning from the UK's leading carpet cleaner brand. Choose the Shark CarpetXpert EX150UK at £199 if you want targeted stain treatment and prefer Shark's design.
