Dyson vs Henry Vacuum Cleaners

Dyson and Henry sit at different points on the price scale, with Dyson's models from £199 to £549 and Henry's from £139 to £339. Dyson's entry point is the Car+Boat handheld 586121-01 at £199, its Ball Animal Multi-floor 411631-01 costs £279, and the V15 Detect Absolute cordless 447033-01 is £549. Henry's range runs from the Henry Xtend bagged cylinder at £139 to the Henry XL Plus 912061 at £159, with the Henry Quick Pro cordless at £249 and the Quick Pet at £339 above. The cheapest Dyson is £60 more than the cheapest Henry.

Dyson's engineering centres on Root Cyclone technology, which uses centrifugal force to separate dust from the airflow and keep suction steady, and on V-series digital motors that the brand says spin at up to 125,000 RPM. Cordless models offer up to 60 minutes of fade-free power with quick-release batteries, and HEPA filtration captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. Henry takes a traditional route. Its 620W eco-friendly motor sits in a 9-litre drum, with HepaFlo filtration rated to 99.97% at 0.3 microns and a 26.1-metre reach from a 10-metre cable.

Dyson suits buyers who want a bagless, cordless machine for the whole home, with the V15 at £549 as the top model and the Big Ball Multi Floor 2 at £249 for a canister clean. Henry suits households that want one heavy-duty cylinder for large floors and carpets. The 9-litre capacity handles a big house, and Henry machines are often quoted as lasting 10 years or more with maintenance.

Bottom line: choose Henry if you want the lowest price for a powerful cylinder, such as the 912061 at £159, with a long reach for a large home. Choose Dyson if you want bagless suction and cordless convenience, such as the Big Ball Multi Floor 2 at £249 or the V15 Detect Absolute at £549.
