Bowers & Wilkins vs LG Bookshelf Speakers

Bowers & Wilkins and LG take different routes to great sound at home. Bowers & Wilkins lists the 607 S3 passive bookshelf speakers in oak or white at £499 and the 600 S3 home theatre speaker system at £3,598. LG offers the Sound Suite range with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect: the M5 wireless speaker at £249, the M7 wireless speaker at £379 and the W7 wireless subwoofer at £599.

Bowers & Wilkins is a renowned British loudspeaker maker. The 607 S3 is a compact passive bookshelf speaker, meaning it needs an amplifier, but rewards that with detailed, accurate sound for music and film. The 600 S3 home theatre system builds a full surround setup from the same series. LG's Sound Suite speakers are wireless and powered, designed to work with compatible LG TVs via Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, which lets you place speakers flexibly around the room while the system calibrates immersive surround sound. The W7 adds deep bass.

The choice depends on your priorities and existing equipment. Audiophiles and music lovers with an amplifier or AV receiver will appreciate the 607 S3's refined sound, and the 600 S3 suits dedicated home cinema rooms. Buyers with an LG TV who want immersive, wireless surround sound without cables or an amplifier will find LG's Sound Suite more convenient. LG's M5 is the most affordable entry point.

Bottom line: choose Bowers & Wilkins if you want premium passive speakers for music or a home theatre, with the 607 S3 at £499 as the entry point. Opt for LG if you want wireless Dolby Atmos speakers for an LG TV, with the Sound Suite M5 at £249 or the M7 at £379.
