Altimo vs Smeg Cookers

Altimo and Smeg are far apart on style and price. Altimo's cookers here run from £209 for the CESS502W to £349 for the CEDC602W double oven with ceramic hob. Smeg's comparison models are a countertop 10-in-1 retro multifunction oven in black, cream or white at £849 each, and the DOSF6300X built-in double oven in stainless steel at £954.

Smeg's countertop oven is a multifunction appliance rather than a cooker, with bake, grill, air fry, warm and defrost modes, steam cooking, traditional, steam and chef menus, and 33 built-in recipes. The DOSF6300X is a built-in double oven with no hob, so it sits alongside a separate hob, while Altimo's cookers combine oven and hob. Altimo's ovens offer 60 and 30 litres in the CEDC602W and 48 litres in the CESS502W, with dial control on the smaller model, and nothing here includes air fry, steam or recipe features. Smeg's advantage is cooking modes; Altimo's is that one appliance covers the oven and the hob at a much lower price.

Altimo suits landlords, first-time buyers and anyone who wants a complete cooker with a hob at the lowest price. Smeg suits buyers who value design and a range of cooking modes, such as a worktop oven for air frying and steaming alongside a main cooker, or a built-in double oven for a fitted kitchen that already has a hob. The countertop model at £849 costs more than the CEDC602W at £349, so it makes sense as an addition rather than a replacement cooker.

Bottom line: choose Altimo if you need a cooker with a hob for £349 or less; choose Smeg if you are adding a steam and air fry oven to a kitchen that already has a hob, with the countertop model at £849 or the DOSF6300X built-in double oven at £954.
