Altimo vs Hoover Fridge Freezers

Altimo and Hoover both offer affordable freestanding fridge freezers, but Hoover's range reaches much larger capacities. Altimo's entry point is the 142-litre AFF144482W at £219, with an 87-litre fridge and a 55-litre freezer. Hoover starts with the slim HOCH1S513EWK-1 H-Fridge 300 at £299, then the 339-litre HOCE4T618EWWK No Frost model with a water dispenser at £349, and the 436-litre HSF818EXK American-style fridge freezer at £699.

Hoover's larger models are where the features differ. The HSF818EXWDK adds a water dispenser to its 432-litre American-style body, and both American-style models use a Total No Frost System with 284 to 288 litres for the fridge and 148 litres for the freezer. The HOCE4T618EWWK offers Cool Space Plus and a water dispenser at 339 litres, while the slim HOCH1S513EWK-1 suits tight gaps with 114 litres in the fridge and 71 litres in the freezer. Altimo's AFF144482W and AFF173552W both need manual defrosting, and the frost-free AFF180552W has three freezer drawers and LED lighting.

Altimo suits budget buyers, landlords and students who need a basic fridge freezer and do not need much capacity. Hoover suits families who want a bigger fridge with a water dispenser, and the HSF818EXK at £699 suits a larger household that wants American-style storage. Slim models fit narrow kitchen gaps, so measure the width carefully before choosing. The HSF818EXWDK has a 41dB noise rating, which is worth knowing if the kitchen opens onto a living area. American-style models need a wide opening and a clear delivery route, so check both before ordering.

Bottom line: choose Altimo if you want the lowest price for a small household, such as the AFF144482W at £219; choose Hoover if you need a larger fridge freezer with a water dispenser, such as the HOCE4T618EWWK at £349 with 339 litres.
