Altimo vs Miele Fridge Freezers

Altimo and Miele are at opposite ends of the premium scale. Altimo's cheapest fridge freezer is the 142-litre AFF144482W at £219, and its 248-litre AFF173552W costs £280. Miele's built-in KDN7724E 70/30 NoFrost model costs £1,399, while the freestanding KFN 4795 AD BST, with 268 litres for the fridge and 103 for the freezer, costs £2,399.

Miele's models focus on preservation and build quality. The KFN 4795 AD BST includes DailyFresh and DynaCool, which keeps produce fresh in its own zone and holds temperatures evenly throughout the fridge. The KDN7724E, a built-in 70/30 model, has a NoFrost system, DailyFresh ExtraCool and LED lighting. Miele's TouchControl lets you adjust temperature in half-degree steps. Altimo's models are simpler. The AFF144482W and AFF173552W both need manual defrosting, while the AFF180552W is frost free with three fridge shelves and LED lighting.

Altimo suits budget buyers, landlords and students, and it is a fair choice for a small kitchen where a premium model would be wasted. Miele suits buyers who value high-end build quality, precise temperature control and a fitted look, particularly those who plan to keep the appliance for many years. The built-in KDN7724E suits a fitted kitchen, while the freestanding KFN 4795 AD BST suits a larger family. Compare the price gap carefully, since Miele's extra features only pay off if you use them, and check the housing dimensions before ordering a built-in model. A useful test is whether you actually need the premium features, since the price gap between the two brands is large.

Bottom line: choose Altimo if a budget fridge freezer is enough, such as the AFF144482W at £219; choose Miele if you want a built-in NoFrost model with DailyFresh ExtraCool, such as the KDN7724E at £1,399, or a freestanding 268-litre fridge with DynaCool, such as the KFN 4795 AD BST at £2,399.
