LG 6Motion 8kg 1400rpm Smart Washing Machine - Slate Grey vs 9kg 1400rpm Washing Machine - White — Comparison

The LG F4X1008NMK 6Motion is an 8kg machine in slate grey at £419, while the LG F4X1009NWK is a 9kg model in white at £379. Both spin at 1400rpm, both have a 590mm depth, 850mm height and 600mm width, and both carry a B noise class at 75dB, so they will take the same space in a kitchen.

The 9kg LG has the larger drum, the lower price and the longer warranty, with five years against two. Its specification adds an anti-flood device and a pre-wash, which the 8kg model lacks. The 8kg model lists a half load option and reduced creasing, which the 9kg model does not, along with steam technology and 6Motion direct drive. Its energy and water figures are 47 and 48, against 49 and 50 for the 9kg model.

Buyers of the 9kg model are very positive. Many call it quiet, easy to operate and good at washing, and some are replacing older LG direct-drive machines. A few note a slightly smaller door opening than their previous 9kg machine and a slightly flimsy feel, and one says the cycle length is not shown until a wash starts. Owners of the 8kg model are likely to value its slate grey finish and its half load and reduced creasing options, which suit smaller or lighter loads.

Bottom line: choose the LG F4X1009NWK if you want more capacity, anti-flood protection and a five year guarantee for less money, or choose the LG F4X1008NMK if you prefer the slate grey finish and the half load and reduced creasing options, and can pay £40 more.
