Miele 9kg 1400rpm PowerWash & Steam Washing Machine - White vs 9kg 1600rpm Twin Dos & Steam Washing Machine - White — Comparison

The Miele WWD380WCS PowerWash and Steam is a 9kg washing machine at £999 with a 1400rpm spin, while the Miele WWJ880 Twin Dos and Steam is also 9kg but costs £1649 and spins at 1600rpm. Both have steam, the same 643mm depth, 850mm height and 596mm width, and an A energy grade, so they share a footprint.

The WWJ880 adds Twin Dos automatic dispensing, a quieter 68dB rating against 72dB, and the faster spin. The WWD380WCS offers 12 programmes against 11 on the WWJ880. The two share the same 40 energy figure, 50 water figure, 80kg weight, 49 minute quick wash, two-year guarantee and smart features, so the £650 difference is mostly about dispensing, noise and spin speed.

Buyers of the WWJ880 say it is worth the extra cost and performs well so far, and one long-time Miele owner who bought at a discounted price is delighted with it. Most buyers have owned their machine only a short time, so long-term durability is best judged from Miele's track record. For the WWD380WCS, the steam function, 9kg drum and Miele build quality are the main reasons to buy, and that combination is a strong starting point at the lower price.

Bottom line: choose the Miele WWD380WCS if you want steam and Miele quality for £650 less and do not need automatic dispensing or the faster spin, or choose the Miele WWJ880 if automatic dispensing, quieter running and the 1600rpm spin justify the higher price.
