Bosch vs NEFF Washing Machines

Bosch covers £479 to £999, with the 9kg WAN28259GB Series 4 at £479, the 9kg WGG244ZCGB Series 6 at £599, the 10kg WGG254ZSGB Series 6 at £599 and the 10kg WGB256A2GB Series 8 smart washer at £999. NEFF is built for fitted kitchens, with the 8kg W543BX2GB built-in washer at £749, the 8kg W544BX2GB built-in at £799 and the VNA341U8GB washer dryer, with an 8kg wash and 5kg dry, at £1,129.

NEFF shares BSH engineering with Bosch and Siemens, so the brands have a common technical base. The difference is installation: NEFF machines sit behind a kitchen cabinet door, use an 8kg drum and spin at 1400rpm, and the W544BX2GB has an A-rated 66dB noise level. Bosch's models here range from 9kg to 10kg, with EcoSilence Drive, ActiveWater and VarioDrum, and the Series 8 model adds Home Connect and i-Dos. The NEFF W544BX2GB's dimensions of 818mm high, 596mm wide and 544mm deep are the figures to check against kitchen units.

Bosch suits buyers who want a larger drum or smart features without a fitted kitchen, and who want a quiet motor for flats or upstairs laundry rooms. NEFF suits buyers designing a fitted kitchen around NEFF ovens, hobs and dishwashers, who want a washer that disappears behind a door. Price is the main difference: Bosch's 9kg WGG244ZCGB at £599 costs £150 less than NEFF's 8kg W543BX2GB at £749, and the Bosch offers a larger drum. Allow for professional installation when budgeting for NEFF.

Bottom line: choose Bosch if you want a 9kg or 10kg drum, quiet running and smart features from £479, without the fitted-kitchen requirement. Choose NEFF if you are designing an integrated kitchen and want a machine hidden behind cabinet doors, from £749 for the W543BX2GB.
