Altimo vs Liebherr Freezers

Altimo and Liebherr sit at opposite ends of the price scale. Altimo's freezers run from £89 for the ATTFZ4442W tabletop to £219 for the AFZ1435542W tall model, while Liebherr's 107-litre FE1404 undercounter costs £369 and its 161-litre FNE4204 NoFrost tall freezer with FrostProtect is £599. The 93-litre FNE1404-14 undercounter at £449 is the nearest Liebherr to Altimo's compact range, and it costs £290 more than the AFZ5542W at £159.

Liebherr's technology is far more advanced. Its NoFrost system prevents ice build-up so defrosting is never needed on those models, BluPerformance is designed to improve efficiency and reduce noise to as low as 38 dB, and SuperFrost drops the temperature to -32°C for fast freezing. Its VarioSpace drawers and glass shelves give flexible storage, and A+++ ratings are cited on many models. Altimo has none of these features, needs manual defrosting and offers basic controls.

Altimo suits budget buyers, students and small households who accept manual defrosting in exchange for a low price. Liebherr suits buyers who want quiet, long-lasting premium performance, with a lifespan of 15 to 20 years cited for its models and a warranty of 2 years extendable to 5. Its freezers can be integrated into kitchen units, which suits fitted kitchens where a precise cabinet fit matters. A Liebherr freezer suits a kitchen where quiet running matters, such as an open-plan living space. Liebherr's FE1404 undercounter at £369 is the entry point to the brand, so it suits a fitted kitchen with a modest budget.

Bottom line: choose Altimo if you want the cheapest route to frozen storage, from £89 to £219, and do not mind defrosting by hand. Choose Liebherr if you want NoFrost on a tall model, quiet running and a premium build, from £369 for the undercounter FE1404 up to £599 for the FNE4204.
