Haier vs Hotpoint Fridge Freezers

Haier and Hotpoint both focus on frost-free family fridge freezers at mid-market prices, with Haier covering the higher range. The Haier HDW1620CNPKUK Series 1 377-litre Total No Frost unit is £499, the Haier HTW5618DWMG 600mm model is £699, and the 409-litre Haier HDPW5620ANPD Series 5 reaches £999. Hotpoint runs from the Hotpoint HPKH 1261 W4UK at £369 to the Hotpoint H7X 93T SK M Total No Frost model at £619, with the Hotpoint HPKH 1261W BR4UK water dispenser model at £439.

Haier's standout technology is Switch Room, convertible compartments that switch between fridge and freezer modes, along with a humidity zone the brand says extends freshness by up to eight days. Haier Artificial Intelligence and hOn app control feature on the HDW1620CNPKUK, while the HDPW5620ANPD adds Haier Air Surround. The HTW5618DWMG includes WiFi connectivity and easy access drawers. Hotpoint's approach is simpler: frost-free operation, Fresh Zone compartments across its set, electronic LCD control holding the fridge between 0°C and 8°C, and toughened glass shelves rated to 25kg. Only the BR4UK adds a water dispenser, and Hotpoint's smart features are limited.

Haier suits households wanting more total capacity, such as the HDPW5620ANPD with 289 litres of fridge and 120 litres of freezer, or the HDW1620CNPKUK with 258 litres of fridge and 119 litres of freezer and app control at £499. Hotpoint suits a tighter budget, such as the 339-litre H1NT821EOX with 228 litres of fridge and 111 litres of freezer, or the 270-litre HPKH 1261 W4UK for smaller kitchens. The 700mm-wide Haier HFR5719EWPB at £669 needs more clearance than a standard 600mm housing, so check dimensions before buying.

Bottom line: choose Hotpoint if you want a frost-free fridge freezer for £369 to £619 and do not need app control. Choose Haier if you want the 377-litre HDW1620CNPKUK at £499 with hOn app control, or the 409-litre HDPW5620ANPD at £999 with Haier Air Surround.
