Fisher & Paykel vs Haier Fridge Freezers

Fisher & Paykel and Haier sit at opposite ends of the price scale, with Fisher & Paykel's premium models starting at £2,346 and Haier's most expensive model here at £999. The Fisher & Paykel RF540ANUX6 569-litre fridge freezer with ice and water dispenser sits at £2,698, while the Fisher & Paykel RF610ADJX7 frost-free model is £2,346. Haier offers the Haier HDW1620CNPKUK Series 1 377-litre Total No Frost unit at £499 and the Haier HDPW5620ANPD 409-litre Series 5 at £999.

Fisher & Paykel's ActiveSmart technology adjusts temperature, airflow and humidity to how the fridge is used, while its humidity control drawers keep fruit and vegetables fresher. The variable temperature zone runs from -23°C to +7°C, and the soft-close doors and cantilever shelves add practical polish. Haier's approach centres on Total No Frost and a humidity zone that the brand says extends freshness by up to eight days. Its Switch Room compartments convert between fridge and freezer modes, and the hOn app and Haier Artificial Intelligence feature on several models, including the 377-litre HDW1620CNPKUK.

Fisher & Paykel suits buyers who want a large American-style fridge with an ice and water dispenser, such as the 569-litre RF540ANUX6, and who have the space for a 417-litre fridge and 152-litre freezer. Haier suits families on a tighter budget who want a 300 to 600 litre range with flexible compartments, including the 409-litre HDPW5620ANPD. The 700mm-wide Haier HFR5719EWPB is wider than the 600mm Haier HTW5618DWMG, so measure before buying, while the Fisher & Paykel models are noticeably larger at 569 litres.

Bottom line: choose Haier if you want a large, frost-free fridge freezer for £499 to £999 with smart app control. Choose Fisher & Paykel if you want ice and water dispensing, humidity-controlled storage and can accept a price between £2,346 and £2,698.
