AEG vs Fisher & Paykel Fridge Freezers

AEG and Fisher & Paykel sit at opposite ends of the market. AEG's built-in range runs from the NSC6L18ZES at £649.99 to the NSC7G181DS at £1,199, with the NSC5S18ZES at £679.99 and the NSC7N18ZES at £799.99 between them. Fisher & Paykel starts at £2,346 for the RF610ADJX7 American-style model and reaches £2,698 for the RF540ANUX6 with ice and water dispensing, so its cheapest unit costs at least £1,147 more than the most expensive AEG.

Fisher & Paykel's headline feature is ActiveSmart, which adjusts temperature, airflow and humidity to daily use, while its humidity control drawers keep produce fresh for longer. The variable temperature zone runs from -23°C to +7°C, and the RF540ANUX6 and RF540ADUX6 add ice and water dispensers. AEG relies on TwinTech No Frost, which uses two cooling systems, and on CustomFlex door storage that adapts to containers from 0.25 to 1.5 litres. AEG's models suit buyers who want compartments they can rearrange, while Fisher & Paykel offers the wider range of temperature control.

AEG suits households that want a built-in fridge freezer below £1,200 with a familiar layout for a standard fitted kitchen. Fisher & Paykel suits buyers who want a showpiece American-style or French-door unit with a 569-litre capacity, split into 417 litres of fridge and 152 litres of freezer, in stainless steel. Its premium price suits a larger kitchen where soft-close doors and humidity drawers will earn their keep. Before ordering any of these American-style units, measure the opening and the ventilation clearance, since a 569-litre freestanding cabinet needs more room than a built-in unit.

Bottom line: choose AEG if you want a built-in fridge freezer for under £1,200 with TwinTech No Frost and CustomFlex storage, and choose Fisher & Paykel if you want ActiveSmart control and ice and water dispensing in a 569-litre American-style unit from £2,346.
