Fisher & Paykel vs Samsung Fridge Freezers

Fisher & Paykel and Samsung sit at opposite ends of the price scale. Samsung's Samsung RB34C600EBN frost-free fridge freezer at £549 and the Samsung RB34C632EWW at £749 are its entry points, while the 645-litre Samsung RH69DG893EB1EU American model reaches £999. Fisher & Paykel's 569-litre models start at the Fisher & Paykel RF610ADJX7 at £2,346 and rise to the Fisher & Paykel RF540ANUX6 with ice and water at £2,698.

Samsung's technology centres on Twin Cooling Plus, which uses a dual evaporator system to keep fridge humidity up to 70% and limit flavour transfer. Its Digital Inverter compressor adjusts cooling power to usage, and the SpaceMax design uses thinner walls to add internal space, as on the Samsung RB53DG703ES9EU, which offers 370 litres of fridge and 168 litres of freezer with Smart Things. The Fresh Zone drawer holds 0°C, and the RH69DG893EB1EU includes a beverage centre. Fisher & Paykel's ActiveSmart adjusts temperature, airflow and humidity to use, and its variable temperature zone runs from -23°C to +7°C. Its ice and water models add an ice maker and dispenser that no Samsung model in this set offers.

Samsung suits buyers who want frost-free storage at a lower price, particularly families who need the 538-litre RB53DG703ES9EU with its larger fridge, or the 645-litre American-style RH69DG893EB1EU with its beverage centre. Fisher & Paykel suits those who want 569 litres of humidity-controlled space with ice and water, or a premium stainless finish with soft-close doors and drawers. Samsung's humidity system suits produce storage, while Fisher & Paykel's cantilever shelves and soft-close doors give it a more premium feel.

Bottom line: choose Samsung if you want frost-free storage from £549 to £999, with Twin Cooling Plus and a 645-litre American option. Choose Fisher & Paykel if you want ice and water dispensing, ActiveSmart and a 569-litre fridge, and can accept a price between £2,346 and £2,698.
