Fisher & Paykel vs Liebherr Fridge Freezers

Fisher & Paykel and Liebherr both make premium fridge freezers, but Liebherr offers a far wider price spread. The Liebherr CTele 2531 SmartFrost DuoCooling at £529 and the Liebherr CNSFD5704 at £697 are the entry points, while the 372-litre Liebherr CNSFC574I with an ice maker costs £999. Fisher & Paykel's models run from the Fisher & Paykel RF610ADJX7 at £2,346 to the 569-litre Fisher & Paykel RF540ANUX6 with ice and water at £2,698.

Liebherr's technology focuses on separate cooling. DuoCooling uses two independent circuits to stop odours passing between fridge and freezer, and BioFresh holds humidity and temperature just above 0°C. SuperCool and SuperFrost handle rapid cooling, and the CNSFC574I is quoted at 35dB. The Liebherr CNC5724 adds a touch display and SmartDevice box. Fisher & Paykel relies on ActiveSmart, which adjusts temperature, airflow and humidity to use, alongside a variable temperature zone from -23°C to +7°C and humidity control drawers. Its ice and water models add a dispenser, whereas the CNSFC574I offers an ice maker and water tank at a lower price.

Liebherr suits buyers who want a wide range of sizes, from the 190-litre fridge with 44-litre freezer of the CTele 2531 up to the 372-litre CNSFC574I, and those who value DuoCooling's separation. Fisher & Paykel suits anyone wanting one large 569-litre American-style unit with 417 litres of fridge space. Liebherr spare parts can be expensive and its service network is less extensive than some rivals, so check local support before committing. Fisher & Paykel's 569-litre units need generous space, so measure first.

Bottom line: choose Liebherr if you want DuoCooling, an ice maker or a smart touch display for between £529 and £999. Choose Fisher & Paykel if you want a single 569-litre fridge freezer with ActiveSmart and ice and water, for £2,346 to £2,698.
