Altimo vs ASKO Tumble Dryers

Altimo is the budget choice, with the 9kg AHPD912W heat pump priced between £329 and £339 and the 8kg ACD812W condenser for occasional use. ASKO sits at the opposite end, with the 8kg Classic T208H.W.UK heat pump at £879, the T108HW.UK 8kg at £999, the 9kg T409HS.W at £1,199 and the stainless-steel T608HX.S at £1,799. The Altimo heat pump at £339 costs £540 less than the 8kg ASKO Classic at £879.

Altimo gives basic drying at the lowest price, with sensor drying and 15 programmes on its 9kg heat pump. ASKO focuses on premium heat pump engineering and a heavy-duty build designed for a long service life. Its anti-crease function keeps the drum turning after the cycle so creases do not set, and the Classic model has a stainless-steel soft drum. The T409HS.W adds 16 programmes and an LCD display, while the T608HX.S brings a stainless-steel finish for high-end utility rooms. Altimo's condenser is the cheaper machine to buy at entry level, while its heat pump offers far lower running costs than the condenser.

Altimo suits occasional users, rental homes and shoppers who need a dryer quickly with minimal outlay. ASKO suits larger households, design-led utility rooms and buyers who see the dryer as a long-term purchase. Altimo's heat pump is the practical choice for anyone who wants lower running costs without a large upfront cost, while ASKO's case rests on durability and fabric care across many years. Buyers comparing the two should weigh a cheap, simple machine against one built for a long service life.

Bottom line: choose Altimo if you want the cheapest route into heat pump drying at £329 to £339, choose ASKO if you want premium build, anti-crease care and a stainless-steel finish from £879.
