Altimo vs LG Tumble Dryers

Altimo is represented by the Altimo AHPD912W 9kg Heat Pump Dryer - White at £339, backed by the Altimo ACD812W 8kg Condenser Tumble Dryer - White at £249 and the AHPD912W also seen at £329. LG counters with the LG FDV909BN 9kg Heat Pump Dryer - Black at £799, plus the LG FDT208S 8kg Heat Pump Tumble Dryer at £499 and the FDV309GN 9kg slate grey model at £649.

Altimo keeps the engineering simple: the ACD812W is an 8kg condenser with a removable water tank, while the AHPD912W uses heat pump drying to recycle warm air and dry at gentler temperatures than a basic condenser. LG focuses on premium heat pump drying, with Dual Inverter Heat Pump technology on selected models, sensor drying and Auto Cleaning Condenser convenience that reduces manual fluff and condenser maintenance. The practical difference is that heat pump machines cost more upfront but use recycled heat, while condenser or vented dryers prioritise lower purchase prices and faster, more familiar operation.

Altimo suits buyers who want a low upfront price, a plain white finish and enough 8kg or 9kg capacity for everyday family laundry without paying for app control or premium drum design. LG suits design-led homes and heavy users who want black or slate grey finishes, quieter inverter-style operation and features that protect fabrics over years of frequent drying. For frequent drying, the energy payback favours heat pump models because gentler, lower-temperature cycles reduce electricity use over time; for occasional towels or bedding, a cheaper condenser can still make sense if the price gap is large.

Bottom line: "choose Altimo if you want the lowest practical price with simple 8kg or 9kg drying / opt for LG if you want premium inverter-style heat pump drying, darker finishes and easier maintenance"
