Hoover vs LG Tumble Dryers

Hoover and LG aim at different budgets. Hoover's tumble dryers run from the HLEC9DGB 9kg condenser model at £279 and the HLEC8DE 8kg AquaVision condenser at £329 to the HLEH9A3TE-80N 9kg WiFi heat pump at £429 and the NDEH10A2TCBER 10kg WiFi heat pump at £499. LG starts at the FDT208S 8kg heat pump at £499 and moves up through the FDV309GN 9kg heat pump at £649 to the FDV909BN and FDV909WN 9kg heat pumps at £799.

Both brands lean on sensors. Hoover's HLEC9DGB offers 16 programmes with sensor drying and start delay, and the HLEH9A3TE-80N combines a heat pump design with sensor dry and hOn app control. Hoover's Silence Technology reaches noise levels as low as 62dB. LG's heat pumps include a moisture sensor on the FDT208S and LG Smart Pairing on the 9kg models. It also uses a dual inverter system, EcoHybrid modes for energy saving and ThinQ app connectivity. Heat pump designs generally use less energy than condenser dryers, which matters for running costs.

Hoover suits buyers on a tight budget who want reliable drying without paying for a heat pump, and the 9kg condenser at £279 suits a family of three or four. Its heat pump options at £429 and £499 suit homes with a WiFi router where app control is useful. LG suits households who want an energy-focused heat pump with app control and a quick cycle, particularly where the dryer runs daily, and who can justify £799 through lower running costs.

Bottom line: choose Hoover if you want a 9kg condenser dryer at £279 or a WiFi heat pump at £429 to £499. Choose LG if you want a heat pump with ThinQ app control and eco modes and can accept prices from £499 to £799.
