Hotpoint vs LG Tumble Dryers

Hotpoint and LG both offer heat pump dryers in the 8kg and 9kg range. Hotpoint's line-up starts with the Hotpoint CHDC82WWGDUK 8kg condenser at £299 and includes the Hotpoint NTM1081WKUK 8kg heat pump at £399. LG's heat pumps begin with the LG FDT208S 8kg at £499 and rise to the LG FDV909BN 9kg at £799. The Hotpoint NTM1081WKUK is £100 cheaper than the LG FDT208S, which makes Hotpoint the clear budget option for a heat pump.

Hotpoint's heat pump technology is aimed at efficiency, with the NTM1081WKUK offering an Anti-Allergy Programme and the ActiveCare NTM119X3EUK adding an inverter motor and Active Care technology. Its condensers feature Sensor Dry and a 14 Minute Express Cycle. LG's heat pumps include a moisture sensor and 15 drying programmes on the FDT208S, a Quick 34 cycle, and LG Smart Pairing on the 9kg FDV909BN and FDV309GN, which also offers a quick cycle. LG also supports ThinQ app control.

Hotpoint suits households that want a well-priced heat pump or a fast condenser, especially those who value the express 14 minute cycle. LG suits buyers who want a 9kg heat pump with smart pairing and a quick cycle, and who are prepared to pay more for those features. A family wanting a 9kg heat pump could compare the Hotpoint ActiveCare NTM119X3EUK at £449 with the LG FDV309GN at £649, a £200 difference, with the LG offering smart pairing and a quick cycle in return.

Bottom line: choose Hotpoint if you want a cheaper heat pump, and the NTM1081WKUK at £399 is the lowest-priced heat pump here. Choose LG if smart pairing and a larger 9kg heat pump matter more, with the FDV309GN at £649 as the most accessible 9kg LG model.
