Indesit vs Miele Dishwashers

Indesit and Miele sit at opposite ends of the UK dishwasher market, so this comparison is mostly about whether premium features justify a much higher price. Indesit offers four models between £259 and £299, starting with the freestanding Indesit D2FHK26UK at £259 and including the 14-place Indesit D2F HK26 B UK at £269. Miele ranges from £699 for the 14-place Miele G 5110 SC Active to £1,449 for the Miele G 7130 SCCLST AutoDos.

Miele's AutoDos system dispenses detergent automatically, and its PowerDisk EcoPower technology uses just 6 litres of water per cycle. The 3D MultiFlex tray and QuickPowerWash cycle add flexibility, and the Miele G5740SC includes AutoOpen drying. Indesit keeps controls simple, with button and rotary dial operation, a cutlery basket, salt indicator and half-load setting on its D2FHK26 range. The 14-place D2F HK26 B UK adds six programmes and a start delay of up to 8 hours. On water use, Indesit cites 9 to 11 litres per cycle on the Eco programme.

Indesit suits anyone who wants a straightforward, affordable machine for everyday washing, especially the D2FHK26UK at £259 for a flat or second home. Miele suits buyers who plan to keep a dishwasher for many years and want a quieter, better-built machine with smart features. Miele's repair costs and PowerDisk replacements can run high, so the premium only makes sense if you will use its automated features. Indesit's guarantee is typically 1 year, extendable to 5.

Bottom line: choose Indesit if you want a reliable, low-cost machine such as the D2FHK26UK at £259 with a salt indicator and half-load setting. Choose Miele if automatic detergent dosing, a 20-year design life and a premium finish are worth paying from £699.
