Hisense vs Smeg Freezers

For UK freezers, Hisense leads with the Hisense FV298N4ACE Upright No Frost 240L Freezer (£449), supported by the FV105D4BW21 and FV105D4BC21 85L under-counter models from £169. Smeg leads with the Smeg UKFF18EN2HX Frost Free Tall Freezer - Silver (£996), alongside the UKFF18EN2HB Frost Free Tall Freezer in black from £839 to £899. The comparison is therefore about format, features and ownership cost, not just the headline price.

Technology-wise, Hisense offers No Frost technology in the 240-litre tall model, while the 85-litre under-counter units focus on compact, low-cost frozen space. Smeg counters with Frost Free tall-freezer convenience paired with design-led black or silver finishes, making appearance part of the buying decision. Look closely at frost control, drawer access and litres: tall uprights suit daily use, chest models suit bulk buying, and integrated appliances sacrifice some visible capacity for a cleaner fitted-kitchen finish.

Hisense suits buyers wanting a sensibly priced tall No Frost freezer, or a compact second freezer for a flat, utility room or small kitchen. Smeg suits style-conscious buyers who want a freestanding tall freezer to match darker, metallic or retro-inspired kitchen schemes. Value is different too: Hisense is about entry-to-mid value, while Smeg is about design-led value. For energy payback, right-sizing the freezer and avoiding ice build-up usually matter more than chasing one specification line.

Bottom line: choose Hisense if you want a 240L No Frost upright at a modest price or an inexpensive 85L under-counter freezer / opt for Smeg if you want a Frost Free tall freezer with Smeg styling, especially in black or silver finishes. The better buy is the model that fits your available space, shopping pattern, defrost tolerance and kitchen style. Check door swing, garage suitability and delivery access before ordering, because bulky appliances can be awkward to return.
