KitchenAid vs Smeg Kettles

KitchenAid offers the Artisan kettle in Pistachio, Almond Cream and Black, each at £179. Smeg is known for retro styling, and its kettles run from the KLF05WHUK 0.8L mini kettle at £119 to the KLF03WHMUK 1.7L 3000W kettle at £189. In between sit the KLF04PBUK 1.7L with seven temperatures at £160 and the WKF01PK 2.3L 50s-style whistling kettle at £119.

On power, the Artisan's 3kW element is the same as the 3000W Smeg KLF03WHMUK, which also has a limescale filter and a 360-degree base. The Smeg KLF04PBUK adds seven temperature settings, a 360-degree swivel base and a stainless steel filter, while the Artisan offers adjustable temperature and a 1.5L capacity. The Smeg range also includes a 1400W mini kettle with auto shut-off and a 2.3L whistling model with a steam whistle and cool-touch handle that suits all hob types.

KitchenAid suits buyers who want the kettle to match Artisan stand mixers and sit on the worktop as a feature. KitchenAid's Artisan colours are tied to its stand mixers, while Smeg's retro shapes stand on their own. Smeg suits anyone chasing a retro look across a range, with a mini kettle for one-cup use, a seven-temperature model for tea and coffee, or a 2.3L whistler for a family kitchen that still uses a hob. The mini kettle fits a flat or office where a small capacity is enough, while the 1.7L models suit households that boil water several times a day.

Bottom line: choose KitchenAid if you already own Artisan appliances and want a 3kW kettle at £179 with adjustable temperature. Choose Smeg if you want retro styling and a choice of sizes, from a £119 mini kettle to a £160 seven-temperature model.
