Bosch vs Siemens Cooker Hoods

Bosch and Siemens both offer built-in and wall-mounted cooker hoods at similar prices. Bosch starts at £399 with the DWK85DK60B 80cm built-in hood, which has a maximum extraction of 430 m³/h, and runs up to £649 for the DHL785CGB 700mm model with washable aluminium filters. The DWQ96DM50B 90cm slim pyramid wall hood is £549, and the DWK87FN60B 80cm model with EcoSilence and Home Connect is £699. Siemens' prices run from £549 for the LJ67BAM60B 60cm hood to £1,149 for the LC91KLT60B 90cm model.

Both brands promise quiet running, but they differ on controls. Bosch includes TouchSelect control and an intensive speed setting, with LED lighting on the DWQ96DM50B. The DWK87FN60B adds an EcoSilence Drive motor, cooktop-based hood control and automatic shut-off. Siemens' upper models use iQdrive motors with cookConnect, voiceControl and Home Connect. The LJ97BAM60B and LJ67BAM60B use touchControl Plus, LED lighting and an intensive setting, which keeps them simpler to operate.

Bosch suits a cook who wants a sensible hood without the cost of a full smart system. The DWK85DK60B at £399 is good value, and the DHL785CGB offers washable aluminium filters in a 700mm width. Siemens suits anyone who wants voice control and remote operation from a phone, particularly over a wide hob where the larger 90cm models make sense. Bear in mind that the Home Connect features need the app and a suitable connection, and the right width depends on the hob.

Bottom line: choose Bosch if you want the best value for a quiet hood with washable filters, where the 80cm DWK85DK60B from £399 is a strong pick. Choose Siemens if you want voice control, cookConnect and iQdrive motors, and can justify spending from £549 for a 60cm model or £1,149 for the 90cm LC91KLT60B.
