Bosch vs Fisher & Paykel Cooker Hoods

Bosch sits in the middle-to-premium band of this cooker hood comparison, with models priced from £399 for the 80cm DWK85DK60B built-in hood to £699 for the Series 4 DWK87FN60B. Fisher & Paykel is the more expensive name, with its Series 7 integrated insert hoods priced from £586 for the 60cm HP60IHCB4 to £677 for the 90cm HP90IHCB4.

Bosch offers the widest choice of formats here. The DWQ96DM50B at £549 is a 90cm wall-mounted slim pyramid hood with TouchSelect control, LED lighting and an intensive speed setting. The DWK85DK60B at £399 is a black built-in hood with a maximum extraction of 430 m³/h, and the DHL785CGB at £649 is a 700mm stainless steel model with washable aluminium filters. The DWK87FN60B at £699 adds EcoSilence, Home Connect and cooktop-based control with automatic shut off. Bosch's PerfectAir sensor adjusts extraction to cooking intensity, and its EcoSilence drive motor runs at around 40dB. Fisher & Paykel's approach is different: the Series 7 extractor hides inside a custom canopy, with three speeds, a boost setting, efficient LED lighting and SmartHQ app control over WiFi.

Bosch suits most standard kitchens, with a choice of wall-mounted, built-in and stainless steel finishes, and it suits buyers who want smart control at mid-range prices. Fisher & Paykel suits design-led kitchens where the hood is planned with a kitchen designer and built into a custom canopy or cabinet. Plan the canopy before buying, match the width to the hob, and budget for professional installation, since the integrated design needs more work than a visible hood.

Bottom line: choose Bosch if you want a visible or built-in hood from £399 with a choice of finishes and Home Connect control on the DWK87FN60B; choose Fisher & Paykel if you want the extractor hidden inside a custom canopy with app control, starting at £586.
