Fisher & Paykel vs Miele Cooker Hoods

Fisher & Paykel is the integrated specialist in this cooker hood comparison, with Series 7 insert hoods priced from £586 for the 60cm HP60IHCB4 to £677 for the 90cm HP90IHCB4. Miele is the other premium name, with hoods priced from £675 for the Active stainless steel DAW1620EDST to £787 for the 600mm wall-mounted DAPUR68W.

Both brands emphasise build quality and a clean finish, but they achieve it differently. Fisher & Paykel's extractor sits inside a custom canopy, with three speed settings, a boost setting, efficient LED lighting and SmartHQ app control over WiFi. Miele's hoods are visible and electronically controlled. The DAPUR68W offers a 650m³/h booster setting and Miele CleanCover, and it is 598mm wide, while the DAW1620EDST delivers 640m³/h on booster with a timeless stainless steel design and LED illumination. Miele's Con@ctivity 3.0 lets the hood communicate with a Miele hob to adjust extraction automatically, and 10-layer stainless steel grease filters that are dishwasher-safe.

Fisher & Paykel suits design-led kitchens where the hood is planned with a kitchen designer and built into a custom canopy, and buyers who want the hood to disappear. Miele suits buyers who want a visible, high-specification hood in stainless steel, particularly where it is paired with a Miele hob to make use of the automatic extraction. Plan the canopy before buying a Fisher & Paykel, and budget for professional installation, since both brands' integrated and wall-mounted designs need careful fitting.

Bottom line: choose Fisher & Paykel if you want a hidden extractor in a custom canopy with app control, from £586; choose Miele if you want a visible stainless steel hood with strong booster extraction, from £675. The DAPUR68W is 598mm wide, so it suits a standard 60cm hob.
