Fisher & Paykel vs Rangemaster Cooker Hoods

Fisher & Paykel is the integrated specialist in this cooker hood comparison, with Series 7 insert hoods priced from £586 for the 60cm HP60IHCB4 to £677 for the 90cm HP90IHCB4. Rangemaster is the traditional option, with classic chimney hoods priced from £309 to £549, including 900mm and 1100mm widths that suit range cookers.

Fisher & Paykel hides its extractor inside a custom canopy or cabinet, with three speed settings, a boost setting, efficient LED lighting and SmartHQ app control over WiFi. Rangemaster's hoods are visible and built around the cooker. The LEIHDC90BB at £309 is an 898mm chimney with a 65dB noise level, built-in lighting and three speed settings. The CLAHDC90BC at £399 is a 900mm classic chimney with a three-speed fan, a charcoal filter and a built-in light, and the CLAHDC110BC at £425 is an 1100mm classic chimney with the same fan and light, suited to wide range cookers. The RMHDT90SS at £549 is a 900mm stainless steel chimney with variable speed settings and a built-in light. Rangemaster uses aluminium mesh filters with optional charcoal filters for recirculation.

Fisher & Paykel suits design-led kitchens where the hood is planned with a kitchen designer and built into a custom canopy, and buyers who want app control. Rangemaster suits traditional and range-cooker kitchens, where a large, visible chimney hood matches the cooker and covers a wide cooking area. Plan the canopy before buying a Fisher & Paykel, and match the hood width to the cooker, since Rangemaster's models are sized for wide hobs.

Bottom line: choose Fisher & Paykel if you want a hidden extractor in a custom canopy with app control, starting at £586; choose Rangemaster if you want a visible chimney hood that matches a range cooker, from £309 to £549.
