Indesit vs Rangemaster Cooker Hoods

Indesit sits at the budget end, with the ISLK66LSX freestanding hood and the UHPM63FCSX 600mm stainless steel chimney at £129, the ISLK 66F LS W white visor at £129 and the IHPC9.5LMX stainless steel chimney at £229. Rangemaster starts at £309 for the LEIHDC90BB 898mm chimney hood, with the CLAHDC90BC 900mm classic hood at £399, the CLAHDC110BC 1100mm classic hood at £425 and the RMHDT90SS 900mm variable-speed model at £549.

Indesit's hoods use three speeds, LED lighting and slider controls, with a charcoal filter on the visor and an intensive setting on the chimney models. Rangemaster's chimney hoods are larger and more finished, with built-in lights, three-speed fans and a charcoal filter on the 900mm classic model. Its own material points to extraction rates of up to 625m³/h, four to six LED spots depending on the model, aluminium mesh filters that can be paired with charcoal for recirculation, and finishes including stainless steel and black glass. The LEIHDC90BB is rated at 65dB. Rangemaster's stated extraction of up to 625m³/h and its four to six LED spots give more to compare than the Indesit models, which give fewer figures.

Indesit suits first homes, rentals and refits where a basic hood is enough, including a compact visor for small kitchens. Rangemaster suits wider cookers and kitchens where the hood should match the cooker, since its 900mm and 1100mm chimney models are designed to coordinate with its ranges. A household with a 900mm range cooker is more likely to be satisfied by a Rangemaster classic chimney, while a standard cooker in a small kitchen is better served by the Indesit visor, which suits limited wall space.

Bottom line: choose Indesit if you need a low-cost hood for a standard or compact kitchen, or choose Rangemaster if you have a wide cooker or range and want a larger chimney hood with built-in lights and matched styling.
