Fisher & Paykel vs Indesit Cooker Hoods

Fisher & Paykel is the premium name in this cooker hood comparison, with its Series 7 integrated insert hoods priced from £586 for the 60cm HP60IHCB4 to £677 for the 90cm HP90IHCB4. Indesit is the budget choice, with chimney and visor designs starting from around £129, and its chimney models rising to £229 for the IHPC9.5LMX.

Fisher & Paykel's approach is about hiding the extractor inside a custom canopy or cabinet above the hob, so nothing is visible in the room. Both widths offer three speed settings, a boost setting, efficient LED lighting and SmartHQ app connectivity over WiFi. Indesit's hoods are visible and simpler. The IHPC9.5LMX at £229 is a stainless steel chimney with three speeds plus an intensive setting and LED lights, the UHPM63FCSX at £129 is a 600mm stainless steel chimney with a 68 dB maximum noise level and slider controls, the ISLK66LSX at £129 is a freestanding three-speed hood with a slider control, and the ISLK 66F LS W at £129 is a white visor hood with a charcoal filter and an intensive setting. The gap is style, controls and connectivity rather than basic extraction.

Fisher & Paykel suits design-led kitchens where the hood is planned with a kitchen designer and built into a custom canopy, often alongside other Fisher & Paykel appliances, and buyers who want app control. Indesit suits budget kitchens and refits that need a simple, effective hood, with visor designs for limited wall space and chimney hoods for a standard layout. Most Indesit hoods can recirculate air when fitted with carbon filters, so check the specification of each model before buying.

Bottom line: choose Fisher & Paykel if you want the extractor hidden inside a custom canopy with app control, starting at £586; choose Indesit if you need a basic three-speed hood from around £129 or a visor design for a tight space.
