Hisense vs Smeg Cooker Hoods

Hisense offers black cooker hoods from £224 for the 60cm CH6IN14BXBUK wall-mounted model to £249 for the 100cm Hi4 CH10IN14BBUK built-in chimney. Smeg is represented here by the KBT600XE 3-speed universal chimney hood in stainless steel, priced at £479, which sits well above the Hisense models but still at a more accessible level than many premium chimney hoods.

Hisense focuses on a simple, modern black finish, with perimetric suction, LED lighting and washable grease filters on its wider model. Smeg's KBT600XE provides three speeds, LED lights and a 64dB noise rating, and Smeg's own material highlights Italian design, a stainless steel and tempered glass build, aluminium grease filters and activated charcoal filters for recirculation. Smeg also cites extraction up to 750m³/h and a two-year warranty that can be extended to five years on registration. The Smeg is the only model in this pair with a stated decibel rating, at 64dB. Its tempered glass and stainless steel build, as described in Smeg's own material, also sets it apart from the more utilitarian Hisense finish.

Hisense suits households that want a black, modern hood at the lowest possible price, including those with a 100cm hob. Smeg suits buyers who want a stainless steel chimney with a distinctive design and a more recognisable brand identity, and who accept paying more for the finish. It is also a good fit where the hood is a visible feature of the kitchen rather than something to hide. A kitchen with stainless steel ovens and fridges tends to suit the Smeg's finish, while one with black glass and black appliances suits the Hisense.

Bottom line: choose Hisense if you need a budget black hood for a wide hob, or choose Smeg if you want a stainless steel chimney with strong design appeal and a longer extended warranty option.
