Hisense vs Smeg Fridge Freezers

Hisense and Smeg occupy opposite ends of the UK fridge freezer market. Hisense runs from the RB435N4BWE 336-litre frost-free freestanding model at £399 up to the RQ760N4IFE cross-door smart display fridge freezer at £1,939. Smeg starts with the FQI60KD 522-litre American style model at £1,999 and climbs to the FQ60BDE 572-litre white model at £2,579. The cheapest Hisense sits £1,600 below the cheapest Smeg, which tells you a great deal about where each brand is aiming.

Hisense builds its models around Total No Frost and Multi Air Flow, a system that spreads cool air evenly across the compartments, and the RQ760N4IFE adds Super Freeze and Super Cool functions. Several Hisense models lack advanced smart features, so check the specification before paying for connected functions. Smeg's FQI60KD offers frost-free operation, fast freezing and MultiZone storage. The FQ60BDE and FQ60NDE both use Total No Frost with 376 litres of fridge and 196 litres of freezer net capacity, plus LED interior lighting. Smeg's signature is its retro styling in colours such as pastel blue, cream and ruby red, together with a Life Plus 0°C drawer for fresh food and a 2-year manufacturer warranty.

Hisense suits families who want a large American style cabinet without paying for premium finishes. The RS741N4WBE at £629 offers 578 litres, split into a 370-litre fridge and 208-litre freezer, which is practical for a household that does a big weekly shop. Smeg suits buyers who see the fridge freezer as part of the room. Its models are often heavy and need a wide, level space, so measure the opening before you order.

Bottom line: choose Hisense if you need the most capacity for the money and a smart display model at £1,939 is more than you need; choose Smeg if the look of the kitchen matters as much as the cooling and you can justify a starting price of £1,999.
