Indesit vs Whirlpool Hobs

Indesit and Whirlpool both cover gas and induction, but Whirlpool sits well above Indesit on price. Indesit's ING 72T/BK five-zone gas hob with a wok burner costs £299, its IB 21B77 NE induction hob is £329 and its THP751PIXI 750mm five-burner gas hob is £239. Whirlpool starts with the GOWL 758/NB W Collection 75cm five-burner gas hob at £519, followed by the WFS1577CPNE 77cm four-zone induction hob at £599, the SMP778CNEIXL 770mm eight-zone induction hob at £799 and the WVH 92 K F KIT/1 venting induction hob at £1,929. The Whirlpool gas hob costs £220 more than the Indesit ING 72T/BK.

Indesit's technology is simple, with touch controls on the IB 21B77 NE, flame control on the ING 72T/BK and dial controls on the THP751PIXI. Whirlpool's features are more varied. The W Collection gas hob has front dial controls and PowerFlame burners, the 77cm induction hob adds FlexiSide zones and Chef Control, and the 770mm model includes 6th Sense technology across eight zones. The WVH 92 K F KIT/1 combines induction with a built-in extractor, which is the clearest technical difference. Whirlpool's features suit larger kitchens, while Indesit keeps the controls basic.

Indesit suits budget buyers, renters and households who need a wok burner or a 75cm gas hob without paying a premium. Whirlpool suits premium, open-plan kitchens and cooks who want a wider induction surface or a venting island hob. Whirlpool's 77cm hobs need wider cut-outs, and venting models need ducting or recirculation filters. Indesit's 750mm gas hob also needs a larger cut-out than a standard 60cm model, so measure before buying either brand.

Bottom line: choose Indesit if a wok burner or a low-cost induction hob covers your needs; choose Whirlpool if a 77cm induction surface, a venting hob or the W Collection design justifies paying from £519.
