Hoover vs Whirlpool Hobs

Hoover and Whirlpool both offer gas hobs, but Whirlpool extends into premium induction and venting models. Hoover's HHG6BRMX built-in four-burner gas hob costs £169, and its H-Hob 300 HHW6LK3X 60cm stainless steel model sits in the same budget band. Whirlpool starts with the GOWL 758/NB W Collection 75cm five-burner gas hob at £519, followed by the WFS1577CPNE 77cm four-zone induction hob at £599, the SMP778CNEIXL 770mm eight-zone induction hob at £799 and the WVH 92 K F KIT/1 venting induction hob at £1,929. The Whirlpool gas hob costs £350 more than the Hoover HHG6BRMX.

The technology gap is large. Hoover's H-Hob 300 uses side dial controls on a 595mm width and a stainless steel finish, with no connectivity. Whirlpool's W Collection gas hob has front dial controls, PowerFlame burners and gas on glass, while its induction hobs add FlexiSide zones and Chef Control, or 6th Sense technology on the eight-zone model. The WVH 92 K F KIT/1 combines induction with a built-in extractor, which removes the need for a separate hood. Whirlpool's own range is positioned as premium, with wider cut-outs and careful installation needed for the venting model.

Hoover suits gas cooks on a tight budget, renters and anyone replacing a worn-out hob with a simple model of the same size. Whirlpool suits premium, open-plan kitchens, especially islands where a venting hob avoids an overhead hood. The 77cm induction hobs give more room between pans than standard 60cm models, so they suit busy cooks. Venting hobs need ducting or recirculation filters, and the 77cm and 90cm options need wider cut-outs, so measure before buying. Gas installation on either model needs a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Bottom line: choose Hoover if you need a basic gas hob at the lowest price with a standard cut-out; choose Whirlpool if a venting island hob, a 77cm induction surface or the premium W Collection design justifies spending from £519 upwards.
