CDA vs Smeg Hobs

CDA is the budget option here, with the HN6013FR plug and play induction hob at £279 and the HG6351SS 580mm gas hob at £209. Smeg is a design-led brand whose hobs run from the SI2641DUK four-zone induction model at £389 and the PX364L 60cm stainless steel gas hob at £349, up to the SI2741D 75cm induction hob at £579. The gap between the HN6013FR and the SI2641DUK is £110, and the gap between the HG6351SS and the PX364L is £140.

Smeg's induction hobs use digital touch controls and an ultra-low profile, with automatic switch-off on the SI2641DUK. The SI2741D adds nine power levels plus a boost setting and a residual heat indicator. Smeg's power range runs from 0.5kW to 7.4kW, and its zones suit pans from 14cm to 30cm. The brand also states compatibility with its SmegConnect app for remote monitoring. CDA's HN6013FR counters with overflow detection and residual heat indicators, and the HC6621FR ceramic hob gives nine power levels, though it does not offer app control.

CDA suits budget kitchens, flats and homes without a cooker circuit. Smeg suits design-led kitchens where the hob is part of the visual scheme, especially when matched with other Smeg appliances. The 75cm induction models suit larger worktops and families who cook several pans at once. Smeg points out that installation costs can be high and that induction models need suitable cookware, so budget for both before committing.

Bottom line: choose CDA if you want the lowest cost, such as the £279 HN6013FR plug and play induction hob or the £209 HG6351SS gas hob. Choose Smeg if you want the 75cm SI2741DUK at £479 or the stainless steel PX364L gas hob at £349 for a design-led kitchen.
