LG vs Samsung Washing Machines

LG and Samsung both sell a broad washing machine range, but their strengths sit at different drum sizes. LG starts with the 10kg F4Y510WBLN1 at £419 and climbs to the 13kg F4Y513WWLN1 at £499, while the 11kg F4X7011TBB costs £949 with TurboWash360 and ezDispense. Samsung's line centres on 8kg and 9kg machines, such as the Series 5 AI Energy WW80CGC04DAEEU at £349 and the Series 6 ecobubble WW90T554DAW at £479. Its 11kg WW11DG6B25LEU1 at £479 adds SpaceMax.

The technology differences matter as much as the price gap. LG's AI Direct Drive appears across most of its models, and its 6Motion design varies the wash action to protect fabrics. Samsung relies on ecobubble, which turns detergent into bubbles that penetrate fabric at lower temperatures. Hygiene Steam appears on three of the four Samsung models, and the Series 6 WW90T554DAW adds Addwash, so a forgotten item can go in mid-cycle. The Series 5 AI Energy machines use energy optimisation that adapts the cycle to the load, and every Samsung model here carries a 5 year warranty.

LG suits large households and anyone who regularly washes bulky items such as duvets, where 11kg or 13kg of capacity can save a second load. Its ThinQ app connectivity and smart pairing suit people who like to start or check a wash from another room. Samsung suits smaller households, flats and buyers who want a smart washer at the lowest entry price. The 8kg WW80CGC04DAEEU at £349 is the cheapest route into the Samsung range, and the 9kg models at £399 and £479 cover most family washes.

Bottom line: choose LG if you need 11kg or 13kg capacity, AI Direct Drive or a 6Motion drum in a larger machine. Choose Samsung if you want an 8kg or 9kg smart washer with ecobubble, Hygiene Steam and a 5 year warranty for as little as £349.
