Candy vs Samsung Washing Machines

Candy and Samsung both target families who want a 9kg machine at a sensible price, but Samsung sits higher up the ladder. Candy's EY49B8-80 costs £269.99 with a 1400rpm spin. Samsung's line-up runs from the 8kg WW80CGC04DAEEU at £349 and the 9kg WW90CGC04DABEU at £399 to the 9kg WW90T554DAW at £479 and the 11kg WW11DG6B25LEU1 at the same £479.

Samsung's differences come from its ecobubble system, which turns detergent into bubbles that penetrate fabric at lower temperatures, and from AI Energy, which adapts cycles to each load. The AddWash door lets you add a forgotten sock mid-cycle, and Hygiene Steam features on the 8kg and 9kg models. The 11kg WW11DG6B25LEU1 adds SpaceMax for bulky bedding. Candy's strengths are simpler: the Simply-Fi app, NFC programme downloads and up to 16 pre-set programmes, with a 14-minute quick wash on selected models. Candy's 1400rpm spin matches Samsung's 9kg models, so the gap is about intelligence, steam and extra drum space rather than basic wash performance.

Samsung suits buyers who want smart controls, steam and a larger drum, and are happy to pay for them. Candy suits budget-conscious families, students and landlords who need a dependable 9kg machine for everyday loads without paying for extras. A family of four with heavy bedding may prefer the 11kg Samsung, while a couple in a small flat will find Candy's 9kg more than enough. Buyers who value a longer warranty should note that every Samsung model here carries a 5 Year Warranty.

Bottom line: choose Candy if you want a 9kg 1400rpm washer at the lowest price, with the EY49B8-80 at £269.99 covering everyday loads for far less. Choose Samsung if you want AI-controlled cycles, steam and extra capacity, with the WW90T554DAW 9kg ecobubble at £479 as the best all-rounder.
