Candy vs Schonhaus Washing Machines

Candy and Schonhaus both offer 1400rpm machines, but Schonhaus adds a washer dryer and a graphite option. Candy's listing is the EY49B8-80 9kg 1400rpm at £269.99. Schonhaus offers the WMSF01814AW 8kg 1400rpm at £429.99, the WMSF01914AG 9kg 1400rpm in graphite at £449.99 and the WDSF0110614AW 10kg wash/6kg dry 1400rpm washer dryer at £529.99.

On washing machines alone, Candy offers far better value: its 9kg EY49B8-80 costs around £180 less than Schonhaus's 9kg WMSF01914AG with the same capacity and spin speed. Schonhaus's 9kg model does bring a graphite finish, which suits darker kitchens and utility rooms. The real point of difference is the Schonhaus WDSF0110614AW washer dryer, which combines a large 10kg wash drum with 6kg drying capacity in a single freestanding machine, a useful option in homes without space for a separate tumble dryer.

If you only need a washing machine, the Candy is the clear value pick for households of up to four or five people, and it leaves money spare for a separate dryer if needed. Schonhaus's washer dryer suits flats, small homes and anyone who wants to wash and dry in one appliance; the 6kg drying capacity handles most of a typical load in one go. The Schonhaus 8kg model is harder to recommend given that the Candy offers more capacity for less.

Bottom line: choose Schonhaus if you need a space-saving washer dryer, with the WDSF0110614AW 10kg/6kg at £529.99 as its strongest model, or want a graphite finish. Opt for Candy if you want a capable 9kg 1400rpm washing machine at the lowest price, with the EY49B8-80 at £269.99.
