Samsung vs Whirlpool Washing Machines

Samsung and Whirlpool are two of the more closely matched brands in this comparison, with Samsung's range running from £349 to £479 and Whirlpool's from £499 to £629. Samsung's models include the 8kg Samsung WW80CGC04DAEEU at £349, the 9kg Samsung WW90CGC04DABEU at £399, the 9kg Samsung WW90T554DAW at £479 and the 11kg Samsung WW11DG6B25LEU1 at £479. Whirlpool's range is led by the freestanding 9kg Whirlpool W899ADSILENCEUK at £629, with the built-in 9kg Whirlpool BIWMWG91485UK at £549 and the 8kg built-in Whirlpool BIWMWG81485UK at £499 below it.

Samsung's features are ecobubble, which turns detergent into bubbles to clean at lower temperatures, AddWash for adding forgotten items mid-cycle, and Hygiene Steam on the 8kg and 9kg models. The AI Energy feature is on three of the four Samsung models. Whirlpool's features are 6th SENSE, FreshCare+ and Autodose, while the W899ADSILENCEUK adds ZEN Technology for quieter running. Whirlpool also offers three built-in machines, which Samsung does not match in this pairing. The 9kg Samsung WW90T554DAW at £479 is £150 cheaper than the 9kg W899ADSILENCEUK at £629.

Samsung suits households that want AddWash, ecobubble or a larger 11kg drum at a lower price, particularly those who wash at lower temperatures. Whirlpool suits buyers who want FreshCare+ and Autodose or a built-in machine for a fitted kitchen, and who are happy to pay the higher price for those features. The 11kg Samsung WW11DG6B25LEU1 at £479 is £150 less than the 9kg W899ADSILENCEUK at £629, and it has a bigger drum.

Bottom line: choose Samsung if you want ecobubble, AddWash and a lower price, such as the 9kg WW90T554DAW at £479. Choose Whirlpool if you need a built-in machine or FreshCare+ and Autodose, starting with the BIWMWG81485UK at £499.
