Altimo vs Hoover Washing Machines

Altimo and Hoover both sell washing machines at accessible prices, but Hoover offers bigger drums and connected features. Altimo's range runs from the AWM6122W 6kg 1200rpm at £229 to the AWM10142W 10kg at £299. Hoover begins with the H3W49TA4-1-80 9kg H-WASH 300 Lite at £289.99, then the H3WPS4106TRR6-80 10kg graphite model at £349, the HWB411AMC 11kg WiFi model at £399 and the H7W 412MBC-80 H-WASH 700 12kg smart washer at £499.

The gap is mostly in drum size and connectivity. Hoover's 11kg HWB411AMC has WiFi and a 1400rpm spin, with SpeedPerfect for shorter cycles and a Power Care system. The H7W 412MBC-80 has a 12kg drum, is rated B for noise at 76dB and can be controlled through the hOn app, while the H3WPS4106TRR6-80 adds hOn app support and Scan to Care. Some Hoover models spin at up to 1600rpm, but the models compared here spin at 1400rpm. Altimo has no steam, smart or auto-dosing features, and its 6kg and 7kg models spin at 1200rpm.

Altimo suits people who want to spend as little as possible and do not need convenience features. Hoover suits large families, shared houses and tech-friendly buyers who want app control and a bigger load. The 12kg drum on the H7W 412MBC-80 means fewer weekly washes for large households, and if that cuts the number of cycles, the £200 difference between it and the 10kg AWM10142W at £299 starts to look reasonable. The 9kg H3W49TA4 at £289.99 is the closest Hoover to Altimo's core range on price.

Bottom line: choose Altimo if you need a simple machine at the lowest upfront cost, with the 10kg AWM10142W at £299 the most practical option. Choose Hoover if you want a larger drum, WiFi with the HWB411AMC at £399 or app control with the H7W 412MBC-80 at £499, and you plan to use the extra capacity.
